We get engaged in a conversation with a friend on Kik Messenger or any other instant messaging site and we get caught up sending and receiving information and media.
But what if we want to go back and retrieve some content that was shared long ago in the conversation? We lose it. It’s gone. But, there is a way to get it back, or indeed never lose it in the first place. Following are tips you can use to save Kik messages.
What are Kik Messages?
You most likely know the answer to this question, but just in case you’re confused on the lingo, let me clarify. Kik Messages are like Facebook Messages or WhatsApp messages or Hangouts Messages, but are a lot more straight forward. Kik Messages are the name of the instant messages you send to and receive from friends and contacts on your Kik Messenger app. Kik Messages could consist of word texts, photo messages, video messages and other types of files and media that people can share on the app or on the Kik for PC version.
How to Save Kik Messages:
There is no official “save” feature on Kik for messages which is true for pretty much all similar types of apps. Kik is no different. However, there are other ways to keep track of your messages if need be. Here are some tips on how to save Kik messages.
If you use iPhone or iPod touch, then you should know that Kik will actually “auto-save” the last 1000 messages in a conversation that has been alive for 48 hours. Moreover, if your conversation is older than two days, Kik will save 500 messages for you. This doesn’t mean just your messages, but the numbers include both sent and received.
If you use Android, Kik will “auto-save” the last 600 of your messages in a conversation that is, at the most, 48 hours old. for conversations older than two days, Kik will save 200 of your messages. Again, this means both sent messages and received Kik messages.
For Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and other devices, Kik will save 100 of your messages per conversation.
This applies to all types of messages sent in a conversation, including links and multimedia that has been shared between contacts, even in group chats. The same rules apply in group chats, even though there are more people involved.
More Tips to Save Kik Messages:
Remember, that if you reset or delete your Kik account, then all your “auto-saved” messages will go away with the app. Kik doesn’t save the messages to your device. It saves them to your Kik Messenger app, so they’re only accessible from within the app.
Another great and easy way to save Kik Messages is to take a screenshot of the content you want to keep track of. When you do this, your phone will take a photo of your own screen and will save it to your photo gallery. To take a screenshot, just scroll to make the necessary messages visible and use your phone’s technology to take a screenshot. Make sure you take measures to back up your phone’s pictures so that you can safeguard against a crash or a theft.
Third, Kik wants you to know that they don’t keep or look at your messages. That’s why they can’t really give you a real copy of your messages other than just save them within the system. You don’t have to worry about them stealing your private information or anything.
Why Save Kik Messages?
There are many reasons why one might want to save Kik messages. For one, a lot of people send important information through Kik. Instant messaging apps have replaced traditional SMS messaging in many ways. That’s why there are simply so many great apps in that market that do pretty much the same thing. But none of them save messages officially.
Someone might want to save Kik messages in order to save the information they send on Kik. You might receive a phone number or email address from a friend and don’t have time to write it down or transfer it to your phone contact list in the moment. You might really like the picture of cats that your friend sent you. Maybe you sent a recipe to a family member on Kik and they deleted it, so you can just screenshot the image and send that picture file over, or just scroll back through your auto saved Kik messages to find and re-share the information. There are many, many reasons why saving Kik messages is necessary and really useful in real life.
Hopefully, these tips will help you understand how to save Kik messages on whatever device you have. Even if you use Kik for PC or Mac, you can still save your Kik messages in the same way no matter what kind of phone you use. If you have any more tips or questions, let us know.
